First Aid at Work

Overview:

The purpose of this course is to maintain life and deal with casualty management in an environment that may produce serious injury or complication. i.e heavy industry or working in remote locations

FAW – First Aid at Work 18 Hours Inc. Assessment Certificate 3 years – no prior experience required)

By the end of the course you should be able to

Recognise and understand a casualties condition and maintain their life (By Time) whilst awaiting professional support. Recognise the signs and symptoms of the casualty to be able to take the correct action

Who should attend

First Aiders who work in medium or high risk environments such as Heavy industry or construction

  • Responsibilities of a First Aider Inc. First Aid kits
  • Primary Survey
  • Secondary Survey
  • Recovery Position
  • CPR
  • Choking
  • Minor Injuries Inc. Burns

Day 2

  • Primary Survey
  • Secondary Survey
  • Recovery Position
  • CPR
  • Common Medical Conditions
  • (Fainting, Imbalance of heat and Cold, Shock, Head Injuries, Stroke, Heart Conditions, Asthma, Anaphylactic shock, poisons, Epilepsy, Diabetes)

 Day 3

  • Primary Survey
  • Secondary Survey
  • Recovery Position
  • CPR
  • Bleeds and Bandages
  • Incident Management
  • Child and Baby CPR and Choking
  • Assessment (1 x external assessor provided for every 6 candidates)
